Filipino Veterans Equity Tee - “It’s About Time.“
Recognizing Courage, Sacrifice and Loyalty
Since the end of World War II, Filipino veterans have been waiting
for the U.S. to make good on promises of full veterans benefits
that were made to Filipino soldiers at the onset of the war then
taken away after the war. Every year, bills are introduced in Congress
but every year, they die in committee, as more and more aging veterans
pass away with their dreams for justice unfulfilled.
Archipelago
is hoping to help support the veterans' cause with our new "Filipino
Veterans Equity" fundraising shirt. With each shirt sold, Archipelago
pledges to donate $10
to an organization working to push the bill through Congress. Aside
from raising money, we hope the shirt will raise awareness of a
cause that has galvanized the Filipino American community.
This year, with the Democratic takeover of Congress, there's renewed
hope that a lifetime of waiting will come to an end for the Filipino
veterans. But there needs to be continued focus on the issue, and
continued pressure on Congress. There's little time left for many
of the veterans. The promises made are long overdue.
It's about time.
